SUMMER MELTDOWN!
A major update is now live for Primal Carnage: Evolution
Please make sure that you are on the latest version by restarting your console, or using the Check For Update option in the game properties.
Update 1.56 kicks off our Summer Meltdown Event! As the perfect cap to Jurassic June, Meltdown brings a brand new TDM map to the game, along with a new playable sandbox dinosaur and a seriously sizzling selection of new skins. Read on for all the details…
NEW RAILYARD MAP
New to Team Deathmatch and Sandbox mode, “Railyard” is a map that was created in collaboration with the Primal Carnage community. This will be the first of two maps set in this location, with a nighttime version for Evacuation mode coming later this year!
The sprawling train depot is half-overgrown, yet automated trains still rush back and forth at deadly speeds. Be careful crossing the tracks!
Of course, that’s not the only danger to be found… don’t mess with the electricals down here unless you want a nasty shock!
NEW Playable Dinosaur: BRACHIOSAURUS
Today there is a new thunder lizard in town! Brachiosaurus has been added to the experimental Sandbox mode, along with support for more Sandbox cosmetics. Although by far the largest playable dino, this is still kind of a “baby” compared to its big brothers found roaming around outside Ruthless.
In terms of functionality the Brachi is currently armed with a stomp attack, directional tail swipe, has standard roar refresh, and can drink. There are no trees it can nibble on unfortunately, and the grazing system was never setup with something so tall in mind, therefore it cannot heal. Instead, we’ve given Brachiosaurus over 99,000 health.
This is likely temporary, until we can hopefully expand the grazing functionality. Ultimately, a carnivorous Brachiosaur was just a step too far, even for this game.
BALANCE CHANGES
We’re trying just a few adjustments this patch informed by what we’ve seen in matches ourselves and general player sentiment. Global human weapon accuracy has been reduced, since dinosaurs seemed to be having a hard time even against weapons that are specifically designed to be inaccurate. On the other hand, human heavy melee now has a longer range to help close the distance to enemies.
The scientist’s heavy sniper rifle (Assault Cannon) has been nerfed with a slightly slower fire rate, and its damage falloff over distance is much more rapid, being less of a heavy hitter at long range.
Finally, the amount of health dinosaurs receive back from killing humans has been increased from 20% to 30% to help them sustain or escape when in group battles.
FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
After rewriting the save/load code last patch to fix the freezing issue, a new bug stealthily entered the game which prevented progress on trophies persisting between matches. Any trophy that could not be completed in a single match was affected by this. We’re sorry this managed to slip past us, the latest update should resolve the problem but we’ll be keeping a close eye on things.
We’re aware of the problems some people are having when trying to redeem item codes. The founder’s code has been extended another week into July while we work to resolve this issue.
Those who have been unable to redeem it or lost the item unlocks from the Founders Code can email support@circle5studios.com and we will get back to you in due time once a replacement code is ready for you.
There are a number of other small fixes and tweaks going into this update based on player feedback and what has been reported to us via the official Discord channel. Check out the full list below…
