Evolution Patches 1.6 / 1.61
New updates released for Primal Carnage: Evolution!
Please make sure that you are on the latest version by restarting your console, or by using the Check For Update option in the game properties.
We’re releasing a couple of minor patches ahead of bigger events coming this October, which aim to address some feedback from the community and fix a few bugs.
NOTE: your game should be on version 1.61 to be fully up to date as of today!
KNOWN ISSUE: some cosmetic items may be missing in your inventory in version 1.61, we are in the middle of restructuring the game’s files to be more optimized and unfortunately some file references got mixed up in the process. You have not lost any items, they will be restored and visible in the inventory after the next hotfix patch (expected to release within 24-48 hrs).
Later this month we’ll be celebrating the 11th anniversary of Primal Carnage: Extinction debuting on console, along with our first Halloween in the Evolution era!
ADDITIONAL POLISH
For nearly two months our programmers have been primarily occupied with bringing Evolution’s new content and features to PCE on PC, as part of this there have been a few extra fixes and improvements along the way. Some of those are bundled with this update, such as extra refinements to Sandbox playable dinos, with updated animations, more varied calls and improved attacks.
BALANCE TWEAKS
Reacting to what players have reported while playing Competitive, we have made the difficult decision to remove Team Selection outside of Sandbox mode. This feature has been abused constantly by players to get around class limits, often resulting in seriously unfair match-ups.
It’s possible that in the future Team Select may return as a setting for TDM / Evac / CTE, but only once we have implemented Custom matches where EXP is reduced or not gained at all from playing with unfair settings. We don’t want to encourage behaviour that leads to a poor overall experience for the playerbase.
Elsewhere, adjustments have been made to the Assault Cannon heavy sniper. It can no longer deal crit damage when unscoped and there is better quick-scope prevention to avoid smaller dinos getting insta-killed so easily. This weapon has proved a bit controversial, it’s intended to be powerful but not to turn you into a one-woman-army. We’ll be watching how these tweaks play out closely.
SPOOKY SEASON!
Can you feel the chill in the air? Darkness is approaching, evil…
We’ll be running a series of scary good store rotations during October into November with a selection of spook-tacular new looks that are sure to strike fear into your enemies!
Keep an eye out for another PlayStation patch later this month containing more improvements and a positively ghastly collection of new skins and mutations…

Our programmers are aware of issues relating to player ranks resetting, along with other lingering bugs. Now that the Evolved Edition on PC is releasing this month, the hope is that there will be more time afterwards to devote to fixing these problems as we enter Dinovember.
