MELTDOWN 3 Update

A new update has been released for Primal Carnage: Evolution!

Please make sure that you are on the latest version by restarting your console, or by using the Check For Update option in the game properties.

The third part of our epic Summer Meltdown event is now live for Primal Carnage: Evolution on PlayStation (also coming to Primal Carnage: Extinction on PC next month). Bundled with Patch 1.59, Meltdown 3 brings major new gameplay additions alongside another hot selection of new looks!

PLAYSTATION SALE!

Before getting into the meat of Meltdown Part 3, we want to let everyone know there’s a special sale on the game with 40% OFF Primal Carnage Evolution until September 9th - so if you’ve got any friends who have yet to jump into the carnage, be sure to let them know!

DUAL REPEATERS

Our Trapper has some new toys! Fashioned after dual lever action rifles, the Dual Repeaters are a new primary weapon type he can use. More powerful than the pistols but slightly slower and with less range, they are ideal for taking on big Bruisers and Tyrants.

Although their original look is quite snazzy, we’ve also granted everyone half a dozen alternate free skins for the Dual Repeaters that range from hot rod flames to smokin’ stripey style. Expect more new skins for them in future as the community artists get their hands on it…

NEW STORE ROTATION

A third helping of scorching HOT new looks is now available on the in-game shop! You can find a range of brand new mutations, skins and more, with dozens of items for both dinosaurs and humans debuting in Primal Carnage: Evolution today.

These new looks will also be available for Primal Carnage: Extinction (PC) sometime next month when the major 3.5 game update is deployed on Steam (currently in Open Testing!).

As always, you can preview all of the latest cosmetic content on our Special Event Trello board.

Note: we’ll be skipping our usual Friday Feature in light of this week’s event.

SANDBOX DINO POLISHING

On top of adding the new Dual Repeaters weapon, we’ve done a bunch more polish work on the Sandbox creatures for this update. They are now a bit more fleshed out with improved abilities, a greater range of animations and numerous bug fixes.

From allowing the Compy to keep moving while using its special attack to simple things like better camera placement on the customizer / class select when swapping to Brachiosaurus, we think they’re in a much better spot than they were previously and so we’ll be focusing more of our attention elsewhere in future patches.

That about does it for our Summer Meltdown event this year! To see a more complete list of changes from today’s update, scroll down to the full changelog at the bottom of this post.

FUTURE CARNAGE

Looking ahead, we’re finalizing the models and animations for the next two additions to the mercenary arsenal- the Flame Slicer and Spear Launcher, hopefully done by the end of the year.

A separate Evacuation version of the Railyard map is undergoing testing as well. Set at nighttime, the mercs must restore power to the train line and escape on the last locomotive out of town…

We’re also exploring a rework of the classic Hunt mode from Extinction, this time the humans that get terminated swap to the dinosaur side and become minions of the Hunt Raptor. If things go well, the new mode should be ready in time for this Halloween.

There may also be another four-legged addition to the Sandbox roster coming up, depending on how much time we have in the coming months. Watch this space.

Of course alongside all this, the team will be continuing to bugfix, optimize and improve performance wherever possible. Assuming we can port it across, the new file loading system should reduce memory usage significantly on console and eliminate most of the crashes players come across.

Thanks for playing!
